Atop a high cliff stood a young eagle. Below lay a world wide and unknown, and behind her, safety and the nest she knew.

She looked over the edge, wings trembling. “What if I fall?” she whispered.

An old eagle perched nearby heard her and said, “What if you fly?”

The young eagle blinked. No one had asked her that before.

The wind howled, the sky waited, and still she stood.

But then, with her heart pounding, she spread her wings. With one great leap, she soared — not perfectly, not fast, but truly.

The mountain echoed not with the sound of failure, but of flight.

And the young eagle never again feared the edge — only the thought of never trying.

📖용기의 절벽

높은 절벽 위에 어린 독수리 한 마리가 서 있었습니다. 아래에는 넓고 알 수 없는 세상이 펼쳐져 있었고, 뒤에는 익숙한 둥지가 있었습니다.

그녀는 절벽 아래를 바라보며 날개를 떨었습니다. “떨어지면 어쩌지?” 그녀는 속삭였습니다.

 

근처에 앉아 있던 늙은 독수리가 들었습니다. “그런데 날게 된다면?”

어린 독수리는 눈을 깜빡였습니다. 그런 질문은 처음이었습니다.

 

바람은 거세게 불고, 하늘은 기다리고 있었지만, 그녀는 여전히 서 있었습니다.

 

그러나 마침내 심장이 뛰는 가운데 그녀는 날개를 펼쳤습니다. 한 번의 용기 있는 도약으로, 완벽하진 않아도, 빠르진 않아도, 진짜로 날기 시작했습니다.

 

산은 실패의 소리가 아닌, 비상의 소리로 메아리쳤습니다.

그리고 어린 독수리는 다시는 절벽을 두려워하지 않았습니다. 오직 시도조차 하지 않는 것을 두려워했습니다.
