The Sparrow Who Lived in the Moment
A small sparrow named Sora lived in a beautiful meadow. However, she was never happy.
She often thought about how wonderful her past had been when she was a baby bird in the nest. Then, she worried about the future—what if food became scarce? What if the trees were cut down?
One day, an old owl noticed Sora’s troubled face. “Why do you look so worried?” he asked.
“I keep thinking about the past and the future,” Sora sighed.
The owl smiled and pointed at the golden sunrise. “The past is gone, and the future is unknown. But look—this moment is beautiful. If you focus on now, you will find happiness.”
Sora took a deep breath and listened to the wind. For the first time, she felt truly free.
현재를 사는 참새
작은 참새 소라는 아름다운 초원에 살고 있었습니다. 하지만 그녀는 항상 불안했습니다.
어릴 적 둥지에서 지내던 행복했던 순간들을 떠올리며 그리워했고, 미래를 걱정했습니다. ‘만약 먹이가 부족해지면 어떡하지? 나무가 잘려 버리면 어떡하지?’
이 모습을 본 늙은 올빼미가 물었습니다. “왜 그렇게 걱정하니?”
“과거를 떠올리고, 미래를 걱정하다 보니 마음이 편치 않아요.”
올빼미는 미소 지으며 떠오르는 태양을 가리켰습니다. “과거는 사라졌고, 미래는 알 수 없어. 하지만 지금 이 순간을 보면 얼마나 아름다운지 알 수 있지.”
소라는 깊이 숨을 들이마시며 바람 소리를 들었습니다. 그리고 처음으로, 마음이 자유로워지는 걸 느꼈습니다.
